The power giving, of being selfless and of charity – COVID-19 Webinar for the Solar & Energy Storage Industry

My father Tony taught me by example, the power giving, of being selfless and of charity.

He’s the handsome guy in the pink and white polo shirt in the photo. And yes, Wile E. Coyote that he is, he beat me yet again on the golf course that day.

You see my Dad retired from being an Executive and the Chairman of the manufacturing industry in Australia, and he poured himself into charitable works. Anything from meals on wheels to being the President of the Cheltenham conference in Victoria for St Vincent de Paul.

He is always the man to give you the shirt off his back, help someone paint the house, or to buy his family dinner. Sure he’s not perfect, but he sets a great example. And he really makes a difference to the families he helps at St Vincent de Paul. I’ve met some of them and they’re great people desperately in need.

And that’s why I chose to help the good men, women and businesses of my industry right now and those struggling families in need. For 16 years I’ve poured all of my passion, energy and skill into renewable and cleantech energy and have seen many highs and lows in my career. Businesses have come and gone for all of us yet we are still here fighting the good fight. It’s a tough gig solar and energy storage, yet it does so much good for the world, so we push on.

The solar power & energy storage industry right now is suffering like many other industries during the outbreak of CoronaVirus, COVID-19. So I dreamt up an online webinar, mostly stopped working my regular job for a little while, and worked night and day to pull it all together and provide a boost to those in need.

My humble target of $5000 is being raised via a sponsorship package, with proceeds to be donated to dear old Dad’s favourite charity, St Vincent de Paul.

We have some of the most influential businesses in our industry supporting the event like: Fronius, BayWa-RE, Yingli Solar, Solis, SMA, Fimer, Smart Energy Council, Energy Ease, EcoGeneration, Solar Analytics, AC Solar Warehouse and Open Solar.

Also for the first time I have managed to pull together the industry’s peak bodies and associations for a common cause – The Clean Energy Council, Smart Energy Council and Solar Cutters. We have all dropped our differences and embraced our similarities with this mission of giving back now during this challenge.

We have a stellar lineup of incredible industry leaders presenting, and support advice for all who attend.
